Since October 2024, a segment of the Berlin Wall has stood in the garden of the Rheinhotel Dreesen in Bonn. The segment was previously located at Cologne/Bonn Airport in front of the Ständige Vertretung restaurant. After the restaurant closed, the owners handed the segment over to Fritz Georg Dressen, as they believed it would be in good hands at this historic site: The Rheinhotel Dreesen in Bad Godesberg opened in 1894 and evolved from a traditional grand hotel on the Rhine into a historic venue for German politics and diplomacy.
The Wall segment was designed by Ben Wagin, whose works symbolize peace, freedom, and the remembrance of German history.
