Victims
In the time between 1961 and 1989, at least 140 humans were killed at the Berlin Wall or lost their lifes in direct relation to the GDR border regime. Additionally, at least 251 travellers from East and West died before, during, or shortly after a controll at Berlin border crossings. The information presented her does not include the unknown number of people, who died from grief and despair caused by the effects the building of the Wall had on their individual living situations.
