The world’s fair in 1993 (Exposition Universelle Internationale, shortly: EXPO) took place in the than developing South Korea – exactly 100 years after Korea’s first participation at an EXPO (1893 in Chicago). The overall subject of the EXPO ’93 was The Challenge of a New Road of Development.
Germany, reunified just a few years ago, took part i.a. with six Berlin Wall segments – as a symbol of the South Korean hope for a nearby reunification. The segments remained until now in Daejeon in the EXPO Park at the Hanbit Square under the Tower of the Great Light.
