To mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall three segments were set up in Bernau. The memorial shall be a bridge to the neighbouring Berlin. But above all, it shall encourage future generations to play a part in democracy.
One of the three segments was painted by Thierry Noir with his characteristic heads ten years ago on behalf of a firm from nearby Ladeburg. This firm was involved in the deconstruction of the border fortifications in 1990.
