Location: John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
1 segment from Brandenburg Gate
The most famous professing Berliner undoubtedly was John F. Kennedy. During his visit to Berlin in 1963, the US president assured the walled West Berliners of support by the US. His pithy words Ich bin ein Berliner went down in history.
In 1990, Jean Kennedy, a sister of the murdered President, was given upon request a Wall segment for the JFK Library from the East German Government. The East German foreign trade company Limex took over the logistics. The segment was erected in Boston in the fall of 1990.
