One of the segments of the Berlin Wall that was auctioned off at a charity auction at BRAFA, the famous Brussels art and antiques fair, in early 2021 is now located in a new housing estate in Ostend.
The other segments auctioned at BRAFA are located in Brussels (Belgium), Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Dublin (Ireland).
The proceeds from the auction will go to Kom op tegen Kanker, a Belgian charity organisation that supports cancer research.
The segment installed here at the fishing harbour was purchased by Versluys Groep, a project developer, and placed not far from its sales office in the new quarter: “The story behind each of these original works of art is history, as the demolition of the Berlin Wall was undoubtedly the most influential event of the last century.“
