1987, Ronald Reagan vs. Mikhail Gorbachev at the Brandenburg Gate: Reagan’s legendary words Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! are another piece of the puzzle in the subsequent course of history.

In 1990 the american president came in possession of a Wall segment, which is on display since November 1991 in front of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

The segment was bought by the Berlin Wall Commemorative Group. The seller was West Berlin’s Lele Berlin, who had the graffito to be painted after the fall of the Wall. More segments are inside the exhibition area.

With a video project called Freedom Rocks, the everyday life of the Berlin Wall in a contemporary post-Cold War context, Vid Ingelevics and Blake Fitzpatrick, canadian artists, are trying to catch the tension between the historical context and the present:
