The Wall ensemble in the courtyard of the Jerry Speyer Buildings is a backdrop for the guests of a burger restaurant. The segments were purchased by Jerry I. Speyer in the early 1990s. Speyer is a New York based real estate entrepreneur and co-owner of Tishman Speyer, which owns the building. The segments were originally sprayed in Kreuzberg’s Waldemarstraße by Kiddy Citny and Thierry Noir. Purchase price: 50,000 USD.

With a video project called Freedom Rocks, the everyday life of the Berlin Wall in a contemporary post-Cold War context, Vid Ingelevics and Blake Fitzpatrick, canadian artists, are trying to catch the tension between the historical context and the present:

  1. Update: After restauration in 2015, the Wall segments were removed into the lobby for conservatory reasons.
